Dei to eldste i familien har vore ei veke i Amerika. Hovudsakleg i New York, men vi rakk ein tur nordover til Massachusetts og Vermont i tillegg.
USA er eit land ein har mange førestillingar om. Eg hadde mine. Er alt verkeleg så stort? Et dei verkeleg muffins til frukost? Er det ein smeltedigel? Er valkampen så sjuk?
...og svaret er: Ja, USA er som på film, men mykje meir. New York er ein fantastisk by, og det er ikkje mogeleg å nå over alt på nokre få dagar. Vi fekk med oss det viktigast; solnedgongen frå toppen av Rockefeller-bygningen. Det var fantastiskå sjå mørkret sige på frå 78. etasje.
Eg skulle gjerne vore lenger, og må nok tilbake ein gong, men eg er glad vi tok oss tid til dei to dagane i bil. Då ser ein landet på ein heilt annan måte.
I have been a week in America with my husband. Primarily in New York, but we managed to squeeze in a trip north to Massachusetts and Vermont to.
We all have a lot of ideas and imaginations about the United States.I got mine. Is everything really so big? Do they really eat muffin for breakfast? Is it a melting pot? Do they really care about who will be the next president?
... and the answer is: Yes, the United States is like the movies, but much more. New York is a great city, and it is not possible to reach everything in a few days. One of the highligths was the sunset from Top of the rocks.
I'd love to stay longer, and will take another trip, but I'm glad we used two days driving. Driving the US is different from walking the streets of New York. And we managed through Bronx by car.
Det er forståeleg at Vermont er ein ynda stat for helgeturar, spesielt på hausten. Haustfargane har ei heilt anna blanding enn heime, småbyane ligg tett og folk er hyggelege over alt. Vi køyrte litt rundt, slappa av og såg litt av New England i vårt eige tempo. Valkamp var det òg.
Vermont is a beloved state for getaways and weekend trips, especially in autumn. The autumn colors have a completely different mix than at home, the villages are small and people is nice everywhere. We drove around, relaxed and saw some of New England in our own pace. And there was an election going on.
Også fann vi ein garnbutikk. Ikkje kva for helst slags garnbutikk heller, men Webs - Americas Yarn Store. Det fortener ei heilt eiga forteljing. Den kjem i morgon.
